At the Ballpark: There's actually way too much going on at Minute Maid this weekend to completely list everything out, so here are the highlights. The first 10,000 fans will receive an Astros fleece blanket on Friday night and the first 10,000 fans will receive a Los Astros t-shirt on Saturday night. Sunday is dog day at the park, which I'm assuming means that man's best friend will be allowed to roam the grandstands.
And it's weird to think this is the last time the Phillies and Astros will face off in a pure National League contest. The Astros will be moving to the American League next year, and the 2013 schedule doesn't have these two teams meeting up at all.

a) It's bush league of the 'Stros to limit their giveaways to the first 10,000. Literally bush league (or at least minor league), since that's what minor league teams do.
b) The fact that the Astros are going to the AL instead of the Brewers is further fuel for the fire of my intense dislike for Bud Selig. The Brewers are a historically AL team. The Astros are an exclusively NL team. Bud helped out his family by moving the Brewers to the NL in 1998, and then whoever his buddies are who bought the team from his family since then by keeping them in the AL and moving the Astros. I suppose the Astros agreed to the move, but still.
And that's without getting into the preposterousness of interleague play 24/7.
Surprisingly enough, in doing these posts I've discovered the Phillies may be the only team (National League at least) to not limit their giveaways to the first X,000 fans. Their policy has always been - if you buy a ticket, you get the giveaway. Hopefully this remains their policy for years to come.
