Record - 13-15, Tied for 4th Place, 5 1/2 games behind the Nationals
One Sentence Summary: It's getting late early as the Phillies dropped another lifeless game to the front-running Nationals.
What It Means: The Phils have lost the first two games in an (early) crucial series with the Nationals. They hope to avoid the sweep tonight behind Cole Hamels.
What Went Wrong: There were three culprits today - a lack of offense, a shaky start from Vance Worley and a lack of offense.
Featured Card: Jayson Werth delivered the biggest blow of the game, crushing a three-run home run in the fifth off Worley. The card featured here was an insert in last year's Topps Gypsy Queen offering, released well after Werth had already departed Philly for D.C.
Field Report: It was a forgettable day for the Phillies, but a memorable day for my little family. I received a nice surprise this past week when my employer gave me four tickets to yesterday afternoon's Picnic in the Park event for full season ticket holders. This is apparently an annual event staged at Citizens Bank Park as a perk to those lucky enough to hold tickets to all 81 home games. Doug, along with his parents and his Uncle Bill, ate in Ashburn Alley (for free), toured the dugouts, walked the warning track, warmed up in the bullpen, took batting practice in the indoor cages, met the Phanatic, toured the Phillies clubhouse, ate ice cream from little plastic helmets and posed with both World Series trophies. I don't know who was more excited about the event - Doug or me. (I may have edged out Doug if not for the balloon sword he received.)
It was truly a fantastic day, and one I won't soon forget.

Nice! And bonus in having the 2 WS trophies together. I've never seen the Phillies do that before. The little guy looks like he's having good time!
BTW, you mentioned a few days back about there being a lot of blue seats poking through. I'm wondering whether the sellout streak is at risk. I received an email last week offering $8 any $30 and under tix for Tuesday and Wednesday of the Mets series. I bought two tickets in 430 for $32, with all fees included. Just now I typed in on the Phils ticket site looking for 8 tickets together and was directed to such a grouping in Section 126--those are seats directly above the Diamond Club! And that was 8 in a row. I'm not sure how they are going to sell the many tickets that seem likely to be available for that game in the next 40 hours.
That looks like a lot of fun. Props to your boss for giving you the tickets. My guess is they would have gone to waste otherwise.

Steve - I don't know how they're going to keep up this streak. I see even more blue seats as I'm watching on TV tonight.
