2001 Topps #478 Scott Rolen

Brewers 3, Phillies 2
Game 143 - Sunday Afternoon, September 11th in Milwaukee

One Sentence Summary:  The Brewers avoided the sweep, pulling out a win in the final game of the series.

What It Means:  The Phillies are 94-49 and their magic number to clinch the division dropped to six when the Braves lost again in St. Louis.

What Went Wrong:  Vance Worley (11-2) was cruising along until the seventh when Corey Hart and Nyjer Morgan both doubled, tying up the score, 2-2.  Ryan Braun drove in Morgan with a single and the Brewers had the lead.

Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo allowed solo home runs to Shane Victorino (his 16th) and Ryan Howard (his 33rd) in the sixth.  Other than those blasts, the Phillies bats were mostly quiet.

Featured Card:  I wanted to pass along this link to a great story by CSNPhilly.com's Jim Salisbury as he reflected on the events of ten years ago with comments from Jimmy Rollins, Scott Rolen and Larry Andersen.  Do yourself a favor and click on the embedded video included with the article, featuring Harry Kalas' remarks prior to the game on September 17, 2001.  Rolen hit two home runs in that memorable game, leading the Phils to victory and starting the healing process for many.
