Phillies 2, Dodgers 0
Game 62 - Wednesday Night, June 8th in Philadelphia
One Sentence Summary: Cole Hamels pitched masterfully, shutting out the Dodgers through eight as the Phillies squeaked by, 2-0.
What It Means: It means another series win for the Phillies, even though there wasn't a lot of offensive support. They're now 37-25 as they prepare for a four-game series with the Cubs.
What Went Right: On a steamy night in Philly, Hamels (8-2) turned in a terrific performance, striking out nine and allowing just six hits in his eight innings. He capped his night by getting out of a no-out, first and third situation in the seventh without allowing a run. Ryan Masdon worked a scoreless ninth for his 14th save.
Ryan Howard provided the only run needed by Hamels with his 13th home run in the sixth. Shane Victorino tripled and came around to score in the seventh for an insurance run.
Featured Card: For the record, my Mom never threw out any of my cards. Also, for the record, I find it hard to believe that any Mom ever threw out this card from 2005, reprinted last year as part of a Topps Series 2 insert set.
