Phillies at Mets: August 13th through August 15th

Friday & Saturday 7:10, Sunday 8:05

Records: Phillies 64-50, 2nd Place in NL East (2 games behind the Braves); Mets 57-57, 3rd Place in NL East (9 games behind the Braves)

1975 Topps #67 Tug McGraw

Quite possibly the only redeeming quality of the New York Mets is that two of my favorite Phillies passed through Flushing Meadows during their careers.  Tug McGraw started his career with the Mets, pitching 9 seasons in New York before a December 1974 trade brought him to Philly.  He coined the "Ya Gotta Believe" phrase during the Mets' 1973 National League Championship season, and he was a member of the Mets' 1969 World Championship team.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Hall of Famer Richie Ashburn finished off his 15-year career in 1962 with the Mets - their first year in the Majors.  As one of the worst teams in Major League history, Casey Stengel's '62 Mets struggled to a 40-120 record, finishing an amazin' 60½ games behind the first place San Francisco Giants.

Phillies Probables: Cole Hamels, Roy Halladay, Kyle Kendrick
Mets Probables: R.A. Dickey, TBD, Mike Pelfrey
