Game 23 - Saturday Afternoon, May 1st in Philadelphia
Just what the doctor ordered! Everything clicked today as Roy Halladay threw a 3-hit complete game shutout, and the Phils banged out 13 hits to take care of the Mets.
Halladay improved his record to 5-1 and lowered his ERA to 1.47 on a day he was never really in trouble. 88 of his 118 pitches were strikes and it seemed as if more often than not he was starting hitters with an 0-1 or 0-2 count. Halladay added a single and scored a run just for good measure.
The big hits in the Phillies' 6-run 4th inning were a 2-run double from Juan Castro followed shortly by a 3-run home run from Shane Victorino. Raul IbaƱez followed that up with a 2-run triple in the 5th, and the Phils tacked on two more in the 7th for the decisive victory. Chase Utley enjoyed his first 3-hit game of 2010, also scoring 3 times.
Hopefully the team saved some runs for the series finale tomorrow night.
