Game 26 - Tuesday Night, May 4th in Philadelphia
The Phils won in dramatic fashion tonight, thanks to a walk-off solo home run in the 10th inning from Carlos Ruiz. (As I'm writing this, Chooch was double-pied during his post-game interview by Shane Victorinio and Greg Dobbs.)
Maybe Cole Hamels read my blog post from earlier today and got fired up when I referred to him as young Colbert? It's extremely doubtful, but something certainly flipped his switch as Hamels dominated the Cardinals tonight. Through the first 6 innings, Hamels and Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright traded scoreless frames. The Cards had managed 6 hits, while the Phils had just 3. Cole's performance was particularly impressive against the mighty Albert Pujols. Pujols went 0 for 4 against Hamels, including a key pop-up in the 5th with Cardinal runners on 1st and 2nd.
In the bottom of the 7th, Raul IbaƱez led off with a triple to center and was brought home on a sacrifice fly from Carlos Ruiz. In the top of the 9th, the Cardinals tied it up when David Freese and Yadier Molina started the inning with back-to-back doubles. Hamels exited to a standing ovartion, Brad Lidge and his effective slider entered, and the game went briefly to extra innings.
On the 5th pitch of the bottom of the 10th, Carlos Ruiz sent a deep fly ball just into the left field stands and the Phils were victorious.

Let's hope Hamels is "back".
I like the double pie in the face.
Way to go Mr. Hammels
