Ryan Howard, you are the man! Ryan's 3-run home run in the bottom of the 9th inning tonight tied up the game against the Pirates, 7-7. Shortly afterwards, the Phils would win the game, 8-7, on Paul Bako's RBI single, capping the thrilling 5-run ninth inning.The inning started with the Phils down by four runs. Matt Stairs cut into the deficit with a pinch-hit solo home run - his specialty. Tyler Walker pitched a scoreless top of the 9th for his first win as a Phillie.
The Phils started the game in an early hole as Cole Hamels struggled again, yielding five runs to the Pirates within the first two innings. I'll admit, I had given up on this game, only half paying attention to the middle innings and thinking forward to tomorrow's game. I should know better than that now after the last few years of amazing come-back victories by the Fightin' Phils.
Wearing a Phillies' hat, Vice President Joe Biden seemed to enjoy himself at tonight's game behind home plate.
