Prior All-Star Game Performance: In three prior All-Star Games, all of which he started, Chase has gone 2 for 7.
How He Got to St. Louis: Chase was voted in by the fans as the starting NL second baseman for the fourth consecutive year. In the first half of 2009, Chase is hitting .313 with 20 home runs and 61 RBI. He's in the top 10 in the league in on-base percentage, slugging percentage, runs scored, home runs, RBI and walks.
2009 All-Star Game Notes: Batting second for the NL All-Stars, Chase grounded to first against (future teammate?) Roy Halladay in the first inning. In the third, Chase flew out to center against Mark Buehrle. Chase played through the top of the sixth before skipper Charlie Manuel pinch-hit for him in the bottom of the inning.
