The Phillies beat the Pirates this afternoon, 5-2, behind the pitching of J.A. Happ and a first inning grand slam from Pedro Feliz. Chase Utley added two hits in the winning effort. J.A. is now 6-0 on the season with a 2.90 ERA. In his last four starts, including his complete game shutout against the Blue Jays, his ERA is only 1.80. However, one wonders (or at least the Phillies Room wonders) if J.A.'s days as a Phillie are numbered, as he's been rumored to be heading to Toronto if the Phils are able to pull off a deal for Roy Halladay.
The All-Star Break begins tomorrow with the Phillies enjoying a 4-game lead in the NL East and 10 games over .500, thanks in large part to a 9-1 record on the just completed homestand.
Random Chris Coste Tidbit: Chris is now wearing #41 with the Houston Astros. I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, but I'm guessing this is a tribute to Charlie Manuel, the man who gave Chris his first shot in the Majors.
