2008 Chachi #43 Joe Blanton

Sometimes you watch a game completely and totally relaxed, knowing your team is going to win. Such was the case today as the Phils won 2-0, completing the 3-game sweep of the Mets. From Jimmy Rollins' lead-off home run in the 1st inning to Brad Lidge striking out the side in the 9th, the Phils were in control throughout the game. Phillies' pitchers were able to induce three double play ground-outs to thwart any attempts by the Mets to get something going.

Joe Blanton pitched a gem, lasting until the 8th inning and giving up only 4 hits. Joe the Lumber picked up his 5th win of the year and completed a trilogy of fine weekend pitching against the Mets as started by Rodrigo Lopez on Friday night and Jamie Moyer yesterday.

With the win, the Phillies remain a game ahead of the Marlins in the NL East and drop the Mets to 4th place, 4 games behind. The Reds and Pirates are up next before the much anticipated All-Star break.
