2008 Bowman Sterling Prospects #BSP-AH Anthony Hewitt AU

With their first pick in this year's First Year Player Draft, and the 75th pick overall, the Phillies just selected outfielder Kelly Dugan from Notre Dame High School in Encino, California.

A year ago, the Phillies made infielder Anthony Hewitt their first pick, the 24th pick overall. After signing with the Phils, Anthony spent the latter part of last summer playing for the Gulf Coast League Phillies. As the team's third baseman, he hit .197 with a homer and 9 RBI. He struck out 55 times in 33 games. The Phillies say Anthony's early struggles are just a natural part of adjusting to pro baseball. To that end, Anthony has stayed in Clearwater so far this year in the team's extended Spring Training program. (I assume he'll join their Low A team in Williamsport once their season starts next week).

Congratulations to Millville's own Mike Trout, who was drafted 25th overall tonight by the L.A. Angels. Good luck Mike!

Very exciting for the Ville! If he makes it, does the entire city become Angels fans?
