The Phils beat the Nationals today, 4-2, behind Jamie Moyer's 250th career victory. Jamie pitched 6 strong innings, scattering 3 hits and allowing only one earned run. Even after his milestone win, Jamie continued to put the team first: "I was looking for some consistency. I wasn't concerned with the win beside my name as much as the win beside the Phillies' name."
By my unofficial count, Jamie became just the 3rd pitcher to win his 250th game wearing a Phillies uniform, following Jim Kaat (1977) and
Steve Carlton (1981). (
Grover Cleveland Alexander won his 250th as a member of the Chicago Cubs in 1921 and
Robin Roberts won his 250th as a member of the Baltimore Orioles in 1963).
Congratulations Jamie!
