1983 Topps Traded #72T Larry Milbourne

Larry Milbourne enjoyed a 11-year Major League career playing for the Astros (1974-1976), Mariners (1977-1980, 1984), Yankees (1981-1982, 1983), Twins (1982), Indians (1982) and Phillies (1983). He was a member of the 1981 AL Champion New York Yankee team, collecting 3 RBI in the 1981 World Series against the Dodgers. Larry played in 41 games for the 1983 Phillies, hitting .242, before the Phils sold him back to the Yankees in July.

In the late '60s, Larry played baseball at my high school in Millville, NJ, where my Dad was a guidance counselor. I seem to remember meeting Larry on a few occasions when I was younger, and I think I accompanied my Dad once to pick him up from the Millville airport. (I'll rely on my Dad to correct any factual errors in this post).

11 years is definitely nothing to sneeze at. Too bad he missed out on the '83 World Series.

So Dad has no recollection of picking up Larry Milbourne from the Millville Airport. I'm starting to think maybe I went with Coach Surace?
