Tim
Gradoville retired after the end of the 2008 season, having bounced around the
Phillies' and Texas Rangers' farm systems since 2002. In a case of so close . . . yet so far away, the
Phillies purchased Tim's contract from Reading on September 6, 2006, and he was
assigned #38. He watched from the bench for the remainder of the 2006 season and did not appear in a game. If you look in the 2009
Phillies Media Guide at the team's all-time roster, Tim's name does not appear between Mike Grace (1995-1999) and Mike Grady (1894-1897), which I think stinks. (It's logical of course, since Tim never officially played for the
Phils, but it still stinks).
Wearing #60, Tim is back with the
Phillies in 2009 as the team's bullpen catcher.

I agree - that stinks! I'll bet his mother didn't like it either.
Mrs. Gradoville couldn't be reached for comment.
