A World War II veteran, Jim played for the Phillies in 1955 and 1956. According to the back of this card, he hit a home run in his first game as a Phillie. A little research turned up that this took place on May 1, 1955 (the first game of a double header at Shibe Park) and he hit the home run off the Cubs' Hy Cohen.We purchased this card at a Bridgeton baseball card show in August 1989 for $1.50.
