2022 Topps Heritage #108 |
Game 24 - Tuesday Night, May 3rd in Philadelphia
Record - 11-13, 3rd Place, 6 games behind the Mets
One Sentence Summary: A lack of offense and an untimely error from Alec Bohm led to this 6-4 defeat at the hands of the visiting Texas Rangers.
What It Means: The Phillies continue to be a frustrating team to watch.
What Happened: Ranger Suarez fell to 2-1 after allowing five runs (three earned) in his five innings of work. He departed following an error in the top of the sixth from Bohm that put runners on first and second. Seranthony Dominguez entered and both his inherited runners ultimately scored to give the Rangers the lead.
The Phillies had scored three quick runs in the first, but then were held scoreless until J.T. Realmuto homered in the eighth. The first inning runs came via a two-run double from Rhys Hoskins and an RBI single from Didi Gregorius. The overall offense was 2 for 10 with runners in scoring position.
Featured Card: Old friend Brad Miller returned to Citizens Bank Park, pinch-hitting in the seventh inning for the Rangers. Miller signed a two-year deal with Texas in the offseason. His Phillies baseball card output consisted mostly of several Topps Now appearances, but he did receive a belated Phillies card in this year's Topps Heritage set.
