Game 96 - 2021 Stadium Club #174 Bryce Harper

Phillies 5
, Braves 1
Game 96 - Friday Night, July 23rd in Philadelphia
Record - 48-48, 2nd Place, 4 games behind the Mets

One Sentence Summary:  Zack Wheeler's pitching and Bryce Harper's base running willed the Phillies to this 5-1 victory over the Braves.

What It Means:  The important series continues tonight, with the non-waiver trade deadline a week away.

What Happened:  Wheeler scattered seven hits over seven innings of work while striking out eight.  Archie Bradley and Ranger Suarez kept the Braves from scoring in the final two innings.  J.T. Realmuto homered in the first and a Freddie Freeman single in the third tied the score at 1-1.  Jean Segura hit a huge two-out, two-run double in the fourth to give the Phillies a 3-1 lead.  Rhys Hoskins added an insurance run in the seventh with an RBI double.

Featured Card:  Harper stole second, third and home in this game, joining an elite group of former Phillies to have accomplished that feat in the past 60 years.  Jayson Werth did it in 2009, Pete Rose in 1980 and Larry Bowa in 1970.

Transaction:  Alec Bohm (3b) was activated from the Covid injured list with Mauricio Llovera (rhp) optioned back to Lehigh Valley.
