2015 Topps Heritage #397 Kyle Kendrick

Phillies 3, Red Sox 3
Spring Training Game 29 - Saturday Afternoon, March 25th in Fort Myers
Record - 10-15-4

One Sentence Summary:  The offense delivered 12 hits, but the Phillies had to settle for a 3-3 tie against the Red Sox.

What It Means:  The main event for this game was the pitching performances of Alec Asher, Adam Morgan and Joely Rodriguez.  Asher is expected to start the season in Triple-A, but Morgan and Rodriguez are battling for one the final spots in the bullpen.  Morgan allowed a run over three innings while Rodriguez pitched two shutout innings while striking out three.

What Happened:  Pedro Florimon and Jesmuel Valentin, also battling for roster spots, each had two hits.

Featured Card:  Former Phillie Kyle Kendrick, in camp with the Red Sox as a non-roster invitee, turned in another impressive outing.  Over six innings, Kendrick struck out six while allowing two runs on eight hits.  He's 4-0 with a 2.16 this spring, but the logjam in the Red Sox rotation means he's probably going to start the season in Triple-A.  This is Kendrick's last baseball card appearance with the Phillies from the 2015 Topps Heritage set.

Camp Head Count:  40

Would it be rude to say "I sure hope the logjam in the Red Sox rotation means he'll start the season in AAA"? He's had an inspiring spring. But, if he;s in the rotation, that's a bad sign.

And let's start the season already . . . I'm ready to go.
