Game 104 - Thursday Night, July 28th in Atlanta
Record - 47-57, 4th place, 14 games behind the Nationals
One Sentence Summary: Aaron Altherr returned from the disabled list, homering along with Maikel Franco and Tommy Joseph in this 7-5 win over the Braves.
What It Means: Altherr was making his season debut after recovering from a torn tendon in his left wrist, suffered in spring training.
What Happened: Hitting fifth in the line-up, Altherr went 3 for 4 with a two-run home run (1). Franco (19) and Joseph (14) hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning.
Aaron Nola struggled yet again, laboring through five innings and allowing three runs on eight hits. The bullpen managed to hold on to the lead and Jeanmar Gomez saved his 27th game.
Featured Card: Altherr hasn't appeared in either of the Phillies team-issued photo card sets this year, which gives me hope for a third set this season. He does have three 2016 baseball cards so far to be found in the Topps Phillies retail team set, in the Gypsy Queen set and in Topps Series Two. The latter is his first appearance in a Topps flagship release.
Transaction: Altherr was activated from the 60-day disabled list and Peter Bourjos was added to the disabled list with a strained right shoulder, suffered when he made a leaping catch in Miami to rob Ichiro of a hit.
