Phillies 8, Mets 4
Game 142 - Friday Night, September 10th in New York
Roy Halladay became the first Phillie to win 18 games since John Denny did it back in 1983, and the Phils took a one game lead in the NL East with a decisive win over the Mets. Halladay helped his cause with a 2-out, 2-run single in the 4th.
Ryan Howard (29th in the 4th) and Chase Utley (13th in the 7th) both added solo home runs and Carlos Ruiz enjoyed a 3-hit night. Howard's home run was the 251st of his career, tying him for 3rd on the Phillies' all-time list. Only Del Ennis (259) and Mike Schmidt (548) have hit more home runs for the Phils.
Hatless: This year's Topps 206 set pays homage to the original turn-of-the-century T-206 set by featuring a set of hatless baseball players just like they did back in the day. This is one of the more unfortunate Phillies' cards from the set as Halladay has been captured with a fine case of hat head while in mid-squint. To make matters worse, it appears as if he's wearing a Blue Jays' road uniform.
