Game 113 - Tuesday Afternoon, August 8th in Philadelphia
Record - 62-51

One Sentence Summary:  Zack Wheeler recovered after a rough start and the Phillies offense hit four home runs in this 8-4 win over the Nationals.

What It Means:  The double header was necessitated by the violent thunderstorms in the area last night, and the Phillies took game one.

What Happened:  Wheeler was down 3-0 after 2 1/2 innings, but the Phillies would storm back.  Kyle Schwarber and Alec Bohm went back-to-back in the third, with Johan Rojas on base for Schwarber's blast.  Schwarber would strike again in the fourth with a three-run home run, his 30th of the season.  It's the fifth time in his career Schwarber has crossed the 30-home run mark, having done it before in 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2022.  Jake Cave capped the scoring with a two-run home run in the sixth, his second in the majors this season.  Rojas had a pair of hits and made a leaping catch against the center field wall in the ninth inning.

Featured Card:  Here's Schwarber's team-issued photo card from 2023.

Transaction:  Luis Ortiz was recalled from Lehigh Valley to be the 27th man for the double header, and he ended up pitching two scoreless innings in relief.
