Game 84 - Bohm's Dingers Support Wheeler's Win

Record - 45-39, 3rd Place, 7 games behind the Mets

One Sentence Summary:  Zack Wheeler, Seranthony Dominguez and Brad Hand combined to shut out the Cardinals in this impressive 2-0 series opening victory.

What It Means:  The Phillies came out ahead against Adam Wainwright, who threw a complete game in the losing effort, and pulled a game ahead of the Cardinals for the league's third Wild Card postseason spot.

What Happened:  Wheeler picked up his eighth win with seven shutout innings, allowing five hits and striking out five.  Dominguez got through the heart of the Cardinals line-up in the eighth, with Hand pitching a perfect ninth to record his fourth save of the season.  Both runs came via solo home runs from Alec Bohm who has steadily picked up his offensive output as the season has progressed.

Featured Card:  Bohm joined former Phillies third basemen Maikel Franco, Codey Asche and Placido Polanco as having multi-home run games for the club dating back to 2005.  (H/T Paul Boye)

Transactions:  Michael Kelly (rhp) was recalled from Lehigh Valley and Bailey Falter (lhp) was optioned down.  Kent Emanuel (lhp) was activated from the 60-day injured list and also optioned to Lehigh Valley.
