Game 82 - Schwarbs Stays Hot, But Phils Fall

2022 Topps Gypsy Queen #110
Nationals 3
, Phillies 2
Game 82 - Wednesday Night, July 6th in Philadelphia
Record - 43-39, 3rd Place, 8 games behind the Mets

Post-Vacation Catch-Up Post 11 of 11

One Sentence Summary:  Only Kyle Schwarber showed up for the offense for this game, as the Phillies fell to Josiah Gray and the Nationals, 3-2.

What It Means:  Baseball is weird.  A day after looking unstoppable and tallying 14 runs, the Phillies offense looked sleepy and managed only one non-Schwarber hit.

What Happened:  Schwarber hit two more home runs and added a single, driving in both Phillies runs and giving him 27 homers for the season.  The rest of the team went 1 for 26 with Nick Castellanos contributing a single.  Aaron Nola pitched into the eighth inning, allowing three runs on seven hits.

Featured Card:  I've run out of Schwarber's Phillies cards to feature (for now) so here's another card of his I recently added, from this year's Gypsy Queen set.  I fully expect Schwarber to earn a fair number of Phillies baseball cards in the Topps sets to be released later this summer and into the fall.

We landed in Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon after a wonderful 12-day trip to Europe, and then immediately headed to Doug's baseball game in the New Jersey Senior League sectionals.  By the time the game ended, we had been up for nearly 24 hours straight and were in need of some serious rest.
