Spring Training Game 3 - Tuesday Afternoon, March 2nd in Dunedin
Record - 0-2-1
One Sentence Summary: Zack Wheeler threw two scoreless innings in his spring debut as the Phillies lost to the Blue Jays in an abbreviated six-inning game.
What It Means: Teams have been given the option to play only six or seven innings over the first few weeks of spring training, and it seems as if the Phillies are taking advantage of that option.
What Happened: Bailey Falter and Cristopher Sanchez gave up the four Blue Jays runs, with Adonis Medina and Damon Jones joining Wheeler in throwing scoreless frames. Odubel Herrera returned to the Phillies line-up for the first time since his suspension for domestic abuse. Batting fifth, Herrera had a single and stole a base.
Featured Card: Mini-camper Darrick Hall's double in the fifth drove in Herrera and C.J. Chatham, the only two runs the Phillies would score in this game. I'm looking forward to so many things in 2021, including hopefully the return of minor league games and minor league baseball card team sets. With no minor league games in 2020, and therefore no minor league team sets, most of the Phillies minor leaguers, including Hall, have not had a baseball card appearance since 2019. This is Hall's card from the 2018 Topps Pro Debut set.
Camp Head Count: 73
