1980 Burger King Phillies #20 Tug McGraw

Rays 6Phillies 1
Spring Training Game 18 - Thursday Afternoon, March 17th in Clearwater
Record - 11-5-2

One Sentence Summary:  Vince Velasquez pitched five strong innings, but a rough bullpen outing from Elvis Araujo contributed to the 6-1 Rays win.

What It Means:  The Phillies donned their green jerseys and hats in their annual St. Patrick's Day celebration.  For a look at St. Patrick's Day from prior years, please click the links below under the Memory Lane heading.

What Happened:  Velasquez fanned seven in his five innings of work, allowing three hits including a lead-off home run to Logan Forsythe.  Ryan Howard hit his first home run of the spring for the Phillies sole run.  Araujo lasted 2/3 of an inning, surrendering two homes and allowing three runs overall.  Emmanuel Burriss had two hits and a stolen base.

Featured Card:  It just feels right to post a classic Tug McGraw card in the St. Patrick's Day game summary.
