Tim Mayza was claimed off waivers on August 31st, making him eligible for the postseason.  At the time, Mayza was seen as a potential lefty bullpen replacement for Jose Alvarado come October, given Alvarado was ineligible for the postseason due to his earlier suspension for PEDs.  Mayza did in fact make the team's postseason roster, but the NLDS (and the postseason) was over quickly for the Phillies and he remained on the sidelines.  In eight regular season games with the Phillies in September, he had no record with a 4.91 ERA in eight games and 7 1/3 innings pitched.  Granted free agency following the World Series, the Phillies brought the veteran lefty back as a non-roster invitee to spring training, re-signing him on January 23rd.
