Game 2

2025 Philadelphia Phillies
Kids Club/Club 215
Wednesday Night, July 2nd
Citizens Bank Park - Philadelphia, PA
51-36, 1st Place, 2 games ahead of the Mets

One Sentence Summary:  Cristopher Sanchez, following in the footsteps of Ranger Suarez and Zack Wheeler, became the latest Phillies pitcher to toss a masterpiece in this 5-1 win over the Padres.

What It Means:  Having won the series against the Padres, and split the double header, the Phillies would welcome the Reds to Citizens Bank Park on Friday afternoon, Independence Day.

What Happened:  Sanchez improved to 7-2, throwing seven innings and allowing a run on five hits while striking out five.  Orion Kerkering and Matt Strahm combined for the final two scoreless innings.  Max Kepler provided all the runs Sanchez would need with a two-run home run in the fourth.  Brandon Marsh hit a solo home run in the fifth and Nick Castellanos added an RBI-single later in the inning to give the Phillies a 4-1 lead.  Alec Bohm capped the scoring with an RBI-triple in the seventh.
