Game 160 - Suarez's Struggles Continue in D.C.

2024 Topps Living #743
Nationals 9
Phillies 1
Game 160 - Friday Night, September 27th in Philadelphia
Record - 94-66, 1st Place, 6 games ahead of the Braves and Mets

One Sentence Summary:  Ranger Suarez continued a troublesome pattern of ineffectiveness and the Phillies' offense was quieted by Nationals' pitching in this 9-1 loss.

What It Means:  I meant to enjoy these final three regular season games, as they would be the last stress-free games for me (and most Phillies fans) until spring training starts up in February.  The Phillies had other plans, turning in a pair of clunkers and one final win on Sunday.

What Happened:  Suarez lasted two innings, allowing six runs on seven hits, and finishing the season with a 12-8 record.  Five relievers did their best to hold the Nationals at bay, but the Phillies' bats were quieted by starter Trevor Williams and four relievers.  Austin Hays hit a solo home run in the eighth inning.  Other than that, the Phillies had three singles.

Featured Card:  Here's one of the best Suarez cards in my collection, his card from the 2024 version of the Topps Living set.  Suarez likely won't pitch again until Game 4 of the NLDS (if needed) and hopefully by then he can figure out what's been ailing him.
