One Sentence Summary: The Phillies' losing ways continued as the Mariners demolished Tyler Phillips in this 10-2 defeat.
What It Means: I wisely opted to call it a night after the Phillies batted in the top of the second inning, missing the bludgeoning of Phillips in the bottom of the second.
What Happened: Phillips gave up a solo home run to Victor Robles in the bottom of the first, a three-run home run to Luke Raley in the bottom of the second, and was chased from the game when Justin Turner hit a grand slam a few batters later. The Mariners led, 8-0 after two innings. The Phillies scored a pair of runs in the ninth inning, after back-up catcher Garrett Stubbs threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth, retiring the Mariners in order.
