Game 126 - Bryce Harper Returns

2022 Topps Sweet Shades #SS-14
Phillies 7
, Pirates 4
Game 126 - Friday Night, August 26th in Philadelphia
Record - 71-55, 3rd Place, 9 1/2 games behind the Mets

Post-Vacation Catch-Up II, Post 6 of 11

One Sentence Summary:  Bryce Harper returned to the Phillies after missing 52 games with a broken thumb, and his presence was immediately felt in this 7-4 series opening win over the Pirates.

What It Means:  It means hopefully the Phillies are on their way to ending their 11-year playoff drought.

What Happened:  Harper lined a two-run single to right in the first inning to start the scoring, with J.T. Realmuto and Nick Castellanos adding RBIs to quickly make it 4-0.  Rhys Hoskins, Realmuto again and Bryson Stott would drive in the additional Phillies runs.  Bailey Falter earned his second win with six strong innings, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out six.  Brad Hand got the ninth and recorded his fifth save.

Featured Card:  The ballpark looked electric from what we caught later in the highlights.  We had missed this game almost completely as we were enjoying the evening in Epcot and preparing for the Harmonious fireworks/laser show.  There are so many great Harper cards from the 2022 releases in my collection, but I'll go with this happy card for this post.  Sweet Shades is an insert set found within Topps Series Two.

Transaction:  Harper (of) was activated from the 60-day injured list and Falter (lhp) was recalled from  Lehigh Valley.  Yairo Munoz (inf) was optioned down and Simon Muzziotti (of) was placed on the 60-day injured list with a partial tear of his right patellar tendon.  Muzziotti, who appeared in nine games for the Phillies, batting .143, is done for the season.
