2022 Phillies Photo Cards #8 |
Game 104 - Wednesday Afternoon, August 3rd in Atlanta
Record - 56-48, 3rd Place, 10 games behind the Mets
One Sentence Summary: Nick Castellanos delivered with a clutch two-run, eighth inning home run and the bullpen trio of Seranthony Dominguez, Jose Alvarado and David Robertson were stellar in this 3-1 win over the Braves.
What It Means: Next, the Phillies come home for a four-game series against the decimated Nationals. They're currently a half game up on the Cardinals for the third Wild Card spot.
What Happened: Zack Wheeler and Charlie Morton retired the opposing line-ups quickly through the game's first seven innings, with Wheeler allowing a fifth inning home run to Orlando Arcia. The Phillies tied the game in the eighth on a J.T. Realmuto force out, and Castellanos stepped to the plate with two outs and Realmuto on first. He launched his home run to dead center field, giving him his first long ball since June 30th. Newly re-acquired Robertson got the ninth, striking out two and inducing a pop up to record his first Phillies save.
Featured Card: Of course it's Castellanos, and if he can get hot at this point in the summer, it only improves the team's chances of seeing the postseason for the first time in over a decade. I only have a few of his baseball cards at this point, including this team-issued photo card, but I'd love to start posting more of them.
Transaction: Simon Muzziotti (of) was recalled from Double-A Reading. Francisco Morales (rhp) was optioned to the IronPigs and Robertson (rhp) was activated.
