One Sentence Summary: Kyle Schwarber continued his June assault on baseballs with an RBI-double and a three-run home run as the Phillies defeated the Padres, 8-5.
What It Means: With Bryce Harper now out indefinitely, the Phillies will need everyone, including Schwarber and Nick Castellanos, to pick it up offensively. Schwarber was 2 for 5 with four RBIs, while Castellanos was 4 for 5 with an RBI.
What Happened: Schwarber's home run in the sixth came as the Phils were trailing the Padres by a score of 5-3. Kyle Gibson endured a rough four-run third inning and was chased from the game shortly thereafter. Nick Nelson was stellar out of the bullpen with 3 1/3 innings of perfect relief to earn the win. Andrew Bellatti pitched a clean ninth for his first career save.
