Game 25 - Wednesday Night, May 4th in Philadelphia
Record - 11-14, Tied for 3rd Place, 6 games behind the Mets
One Sentence Summary: The Phillies wasted a solid effort from Zack Wheeler, falling to the Rangers in this 2-1 extra-inning loss.
What It Means: After losing the two-game series against the Rangers, the Phillies will look to rebound with a four-game weekend series against the Mets. Spoiler alert - it's not going well.
What Happened: Wheeler pitched into the eighth inning, striking out seven and scattering six hits. Martin Perez, Matt Moore and Matt Bush kept the Phillies scoreless through nine innings and overall the Phillies offense went 0 for 7 with runners in scoring position. Brad Hand couldn't hold the shutout in the 10th. Brad Miller looped a two-run single into right field, scoring a pair of runs and ultimately giving the Rangers the win.
Featured Card/Field Report: Doug and I were there, and we enjoyed the annual Star Wars festivities given it was May the Fourth. The Phillies always do a nice job with these type of things, and there were Star Wars characters stationed throughout the ballpark at the various entrances prior to the game. Doug didn't hesitate to get a picture with The Mandalorian himself and the Armorer.
For those wondering, there was still no Media Guide for sale and no sign yet of any photo card sets. We were told once again they should both be available later in May, and it appears as if Media Guides went on sale before Thursday night's game.
