2021 Topps Allen & Ginter T51 Murad Reimagined #MR-21 |
Game 140 - Thursday Night, September 9th in Philadelphia
Record - 71-69, 2nd Place, 3 1/2 games behind the Braves
One Sentence Summary: The Phillies were one strike away from victory when closer Ian Kennedy surrendered a two-run home run to Ryan McMahon.
What It Means: It sure doesn't seem as if the Phillies are a play-off bound team.
What Happened: Ranger Suarez did his job, pitching six solid innings and allowing a run on five hits while striking out six. Bryce Harper did his job, collecting a pair of hits and hitting his 30th home run (another solo shot) in the first inning. Jose Alvarado and Hector Neris did their jobs, pitching two scoreless innings of relief before yielding to Kennedy. No one else did their jobs, including Kennedy, who collected his third blown save and the 30th overall for the beleaguered Phillies team.
Featured Card: Harper is single-handedly attempting to carry this team at this point, and he could use some help.
