1984 Donruss #82 Joe Lefebvre

I always liked Joe Lefebvre. Maybe it was because I was the only one in my 3rd grade class who could pronounce his last name. "Of course it's not Lefever," I'd say knowingly, "It's Lefay."

Joe was acquired from the San Diego Padres in May 1983 for Sid Monge. He played 101 games for the Phils in '83, hitting .310 with 8 home runs and 38 RBI. Primarily a corner outfielder, Joe actually played 9 games at 3rd base during the year, and caught in 3 games. Joe hit .143 in the '83 Postseason against the Dodgers and the Orioles.

A knee injury curtailed his career, and he'd only play 66 more games for the Phils before finally hanging up the spikes in May 1986. Joe coached with several Phillies' minor league teams from 1987 until 1989, and he was a coach with the San Francisco Giants from 2002 to 2007. He's currently a member of the Giants' front office, serving as a Senior Advisor, Player Personnel.
