The Phillies have a record-setting 12 coaches listed on their official roster for 2021, and I'm breaking the up into groups of four among three different coaches cards.  Rob Thomson is the only hold-over here from the Gabe Kapler era with both Bobby Meacham and Joe Dillon joining the club last season.  Caleb Cotham takes over the pitching coach duties this season from Bryan Price who departed after the shortened 2020 season.

Cotham is the team's fifth pitching coach in as many years following Bob McClure (2014-2017), Rick Kranitz (2018), Chris Young (2019) and Price (2020).  Cotham pitched in 12 games for the Yankees in 2015, who were managed by Joe Girardi at the time.

If you're looking for mainstream baseball cards for these Phillies coaches, there are only a few options.  Thomson appears on a short-printed coaches card in the 2009 Topps Heritage set.  Price appears in the 2016 and 2017 Topps Heritage sets as the Reds' manager.  Dillon's only baseball card in a Topps product is numbered to 2,999 and can be found in the 2001 Bowman's Best set.

Phils Hire Joe Dillon to be Girardi's Hitting Coach

On Thursday, the Phillies officially named Joe Dillon the team's new hitting coach, completing the hiring for new manager Joe Girardi's coaching staff.  Bryan Price (pitching coach) and Juan Castro (infield coach) had been previously added.

Dillon was with the Nationals in 2018 and 2019, working as the assistant to hitting coach Kevin Long.  Long had previously coached with Girardi for the Yankees between 2008 and 2014, and Long apparently personally recommend Dillon to Girardi.  Dillon also served as the Marlins minor league hitting coordinator in 2016 and 2017.  He played in parts of four seasons in the Majors with the Marlins (2005), Brewers (2007-2008) and Rays (2009) hitting .263 over 217 at-bats.

His sole mainstream baseball card seems to be his 2001 Bowman's Best card, featuring him as a prospect in the Royals' system.  Other than that appearance, he's appeared in numerous minor league team sets dating back to 1998.
