2014 Panini Prizm #180 Cameron Rupp

Spring Training Game 10 - Wednesday Afternoon, March 9th in Clearwater

Phillies 4Twins 2
Spring Training Game 11 - Wednesday Afternoon, March 9th in Fort Myers
Record - 7-3-1

One Sentence Summary:  In split squads, Darin Ruf and Cameron Rupp both hit two home runs as the Phillies won both their games.

What It Means:  I don't think the Phillies have had this good a record in spring training in recent years.  I'm not sure if I should be cautiously hopeful or irrationally optimistic at this point.  I'm leaning towards being irrationally optimistic.

What Happened:  Ruf has three home runs in a span of five at-bats between Tuesday and yesterday.  In the game against the Twins, top prospects Zach Eflin, Jake Thompson and Mark Appel combined to allow one run over eight innings while striking out six.

Featured Card:  Rupp is certainly making his case to be the team's opening day catcher.  His two home runs raised his spring average to an even .500 (5 for 10).  Hopefully his status in 2016 earns him his first Topps flagship card.  Rupp appeared in quite a few Panini sets in 2014, and his only two 2015 baseball cards can be found in the Phillies team issued sets.

Camp Head Count:  66
