2011 Phillies Team Issue - 1st Edition

Number of Cards:  38
Card Size:  4" x 6"
Description:  The card fronts feature clean, full color photos with the Phillies script logos in one of the upper corners.  Photos are from 2011 spring training.  The player's name, position and uniform number appear at the bottom of the card against an abstract red, white and blue design.  The horizontal card backs feature biographical information and complete career statistics.

How Distributed:  The original 36-card set was only available for sale at Citizens Bank Park through the early part of the season.  As Steve points out in his comment below, two more cards were added to the set at some point before June.  For the second year in a row, the Phillies released a second edition set (in early June) with a completely new design.

Complete Standard Checklist (36):  The cards are unnumbered, but I've presented them below ordered by uniform number.

One and Done (1):  Young

Delwyn Young appeared to have a roster spot locked up towards the end of spring training, but the final spot went to Pete Orr instead.  Young never played for the Phillies, spending the 2011 season with the IronPigs.  The First Appearance designation is for players who have never before appeared within a Phillies team issued set.  These players may have already appeared on other Phillies baseball cards.

Manager (1):  Manuel
Coaches (6):  Billmeyer, Dubee, Gross, Mackanin, Perlozzo, Samuel
Phillie Phanatic (1)
Broadcasters (1):  The broadcaster's card features Tom McCarthy, Scott Franzke, Larry Andersen, Chris Wheeler, Gary Matthews and new addition Jim Jackson.
Commemorative Cards (0)

Variations/Rarities:  I'm not aware of any variations available from this set, although until Steve left his comment to this post I had no idea that cards for Orr and Herndon had been issued.

Also See:  I'll eventually link to the second edition set here.  I originally wrote about this set after I had first purchased it at the ballpark during the 2011 on-deck series on April 2, 2011.
Trivia:  This set marked the first official appearance of Michael Martinez on a Phillies baseball card.  It was all downhill from here.

David Herndon and Pete Orr were included in a version "1b" as I have it listed. I bought this on Opening Day as a 36-card set and then later in the first half of the season with those two added and no one removed, so it became a 38-card set.

Thanks for the info Steve. I had no idea those cards existed, and now I need to start searching eBay for a 38-card first edition set!
