Second Summer Sabbatical Game Recap Catch-Up Post 3 of 10

One Sentence Summary:  Trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth, Trea Turner continued his torrid August with a two-run, game-winning single, giving the Phillies a dramatic 4-3 win.

What It Means:  Turner finished the month of August with nine home runs, 26 RBIs and a .324 average, having gone 35 for 108.  Since receiving a standing ovation from Phillies fans at the beginning of the month, Turner has emerged from his season-long slump and is now one of the many bright spots in the Phillies line-up.

What Happened:  The Phillies took a 2-1 lead in the first on a two-run home run from Bryce Harper, his 11th of the season.  Starting pitcher Taijuan Walker settled down after a shaky first inning, but allowed a pair of Giants runs to score in the fifth, to again give the Giants the lead.  The game quieted down until the ninth.  Bryson Stott was hit by a pitch to start the frame and Brandon Marsh singled a batter later.  The Giants intentionally walked Kyle Schwarber to load the bases, setting up Turner's heroics.  Turner singled up the middle off Giants' closer Camilo Doval, sparking the latest Phillies post-game celebration.

Featured Card:  Again, the Topps Now card celebrating Turner's walk-off single hasn't arrived yet, but this Topps Now card, celebrating the two home runs hit by Turner in the same inning on August 19th, arrived on Saturday.
