Second Summer Sabbatical Game Recap Catch-Up Post 2 of 10

One Sentence Summary:  On the strength of four home runs, including a thrilling inside the park home run from Bryce Harper, the Phillies took the first game of this important series, winning 10-4.

What It Means:  Any win against Gabe Kapler and his Giants team is a good win, and this win widened the gap a little in the Wild Card standings.  The Phillies held a 2 1/2 game lead over the Cubs for the top Wild Card spot, heading into Tuesday.

What Happened:  Aaron Nola earned his 11th win, allowing a pair of runs on two solo home runs, while striking out five.  Edmundo Sosa, Alec Bohm, Harper and Kyle Schwarber all homered.  In a four-run seventh inning, prior to Schwarber's two-run home run, Johan Rojas collected his first big league triple, driving in two in the process.

Featured Card:  Harper's dash around the bases in the fifth inning is something we'll be watching in Phillies highlights for years to come.  He received a Topps Now card for his efforts, showing the slugger posed at home plate following his slide.  That card hasn't arrived yet in the mail, so here's another cool card I recently added, showing the larger than life Harper walking through Citizens Bank Park.  In his almost five seasons with the Phillies so far, he's cemented himself as one of the most popular players in franchise history.

Transactions:  Jose Alvarado (lhp) was activated from the Injured List.  Luis F. Ortiz (rhp) and Weston Wilson (inf) were optioned down to Lehigh Valley.
