Game 60 - Macca Rocks Baltimore, D-Backs Rock Phils

Diamondbacks 13
, Phillies 1
Game 60 - Sunday Afternoon, June 12th in Philadelphia
Record - 30-30, 3rd Place, 9 games behind the Mets

One Sentence Summary:  The nine game winning streak ended in spectacular fashion, with the Diamondbacks blowing out the Phillies, 13-1.

What It Means:  The Phillies will try to start a new winning streak when they open up a three-game series at home against the Marlins tonight.

What Happened:  Ranger Suarez was victimized by his own wildness and some questionable defense in the first inning, allowing the Diamondbacks to take a quick 3-0 lead.  The game was pretty much over at that point.  The Phillies offense went 1 for 8 with runners in scoring position, plating their lone run in the fourth when Alec Bohm singled home J.T. Realmuto.  The bullpen performance was lousy, with Nick Nelson, Jose Alvarado and James Norwood giving up eight runs combined in 3 1/3 innings of work.  Back-up catcher Garrett Stubbs pitched the ninth inning for the Phillies, giving up a solo home run to Jake McCarthy.

Featured Card:  We listened to most of this game during our two-hour drive down to Baltimore as we had tickets to Paul McCartney's concert at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.  It was a long, hot day but the concert was amazing and memories were made I won't soon forget.  Paul's 80th birthday is coming up on June 18th, and I'm in awe of his ability to play for almost three hours straight seemingly effortlessly.  This was my fifth* time seeing him live, and highlights for me included hearing him play "Love Me Do," "In Spite of All the Danger," and duetting with John Lennon, albeit virtually, during the encore's "I've Got a Feeling."  I wrote about seeing him back in 2015 here.

*1989, 2005, 2010, 2015 and 2022

Transaction:  Alvarado (lhp) was recalled from Lehigh Valley and Cristopher Sanchez (lhp) was optioned down.
