One Sentence Summary:  Completely outmatched, the Nationals dismantled Aaron Nola and the Phillies by a score of 8-0.

What It Means:  The Phillies are a season-high nine games out of first place.  They've lost 16 of their last 21 games.

Featured Card:  Former Phillies pitcher and current Nationals pitching coach Mike Maddux sure seems to have a nice gig. Previously serving as the pitching coach for the Brewers (2003-2008) and Rangers (2009-2015), Maddux is in his first year in that role for the Nationals.  The Nationals pitching staff ranks near the top of ever major pitching category among all National League teams.

  1. It's funny... it seems like we heard a hell of a lot more hype about Strasburg as a 5-3 rookie than we're hearing now about the 10-0 veteran.

  2. The Phillies had no clue against him yesterday. That's not saying much, but I was definitely impressed.

  3. Ahh, Mike Maddux......

The Phillies always seemed to get the wrong brother:

    Mike instead of Greg Maddux
    Mark instead of Al Leiter
    Jeremy instead of Jason Giambi
Mike instead of Nolan Ryan (heh-heh)
