2015 Choice Lehigh Valley IronPigs #22 Hector Neris

Brewers 6, Phillies 1
Game 118 - Sunday Afternoon, August 16th in Milwaukee
Record - 46-72, 5th Place, 17 games behind the Mets

One Sentence Summary:  The Phillies went quietly in a 6-1 loss to the Brewers, with the biggest blow coming from Ryan Braun's fifth inning grand slam off Aaron Harang.

What It Means:   The Phillies are off Monday and they'll open a quick two-game home series against the Blue Jays on Tuesday night.

What Happened:  Harang didn't escape the fifth inning and he now owns a 5-14 record to go along with his 4.79 ERA.  Andres Blanco hit a meaningless solo home run in the ninth for the Phillies only run.  Phillies batters struck out nine times against Brewers starting pitcher Taylor Jungmann.

Featured Card:  There's not much else to write about for this game, so I'll throw some appreciation towards middle reliever Hector Neris who has quietly put together a very nice season.  Neris inherited a bases loaded situation from Adam Loewen in the seventh and managed to work out of trouble without allowing any inherited runners to score, and lowering his ERA to 2.21 in the process.

If there's a new team issued photo card set released on Tuesday, and I'm hoping there is, Neris should be represented in the set.  For now, this is his only other 2015 baseball card along with his Rookie Stars card from the Topps Heritage set.  This is the only Neris card to date featuring him with a strip of bacon on his hat.
