2015 Topps #659 Jimmy Rollins & Mike Schmidt HL

Dodgers 10, Phillies 7
Game 85 - Late Monday Night, July 6th in Los Angeles
Record - 28-57, 5th Place, 19 games behind the Nationals

One Sentence Summary:  Jimmy Rollins' two-run single in the seventh broke a 7-7 tie and led to the eventual 10-7 Dodgers win.

What It Means:  Of course he did.  There was never a doubt in my mind that Rollins wouldn't hurt his former team in some way.  Rollins had two hits and scored twice in his first ever game against the Phillies.

What Happened:  The Phillies had a 6-3 lead after four innings, thanks largely to home runs from Freddy Galvis and Ryan Howard.  Starting pitcher Sean O'Sullivan and reliever Jeanmar Gomez couldn't keep the Dodgers off the board and L.A. ended up winning the slugfest.  At four hours and 13 minutes, this was apparently the longest nine inning game in franchise history.

Featured Card:  This is probably my favorite card in this year's Topps flagship set, showing Mike Schmidt congratulating Rollins after the latter broke his franchise all-times hits record.  I created a similar card for last year's Chachi set using a 1988 Topps inspired design.

Transaction:  After the game, O'Sullivan was outrighted off the 40-man roster and reliever Hector Neris was recalled.  O'Sullivan has yet to decide if he'll join the IronPigs or peddle his wares elsewhere.

Earlier today, starting pitcher Kevin Correia was designated for assignment and Severino Gonzalez was recalled to take his place in the rotation.
