2013 Topps Phillies #PHI-14 Ben Revere

Phillies 3, Twins 2
Game 67 - Thursday Night, June 13th in Minneapolis
Record - 32-35, 3rd Place, 7 1/2 games behind the Braves

One Sentence Summary:  The Phillies eked out a 3-2 win over the Twins with two eighth inning runs.

What It Means:  It means the Phils salvaged a game from this nightmare series against the Twins.

What Went Right:  With the Twins up 2-1 in the top of the eighth, pinch-hitter Kevin Frandsen doubled to lead off the inning and then went to third when Ben Revere beat out a bunt.  Michael Young singled home Frandsen and Revere scored one batter later on Jimmy Rollins' fielder's choice.  These two runs were monumental as the team ended the night with 16 runners left on base.

Cliff Lee earned his eighth win after another strong outing and Jonathan Papelbon secured his 12th save.

Featured Card:  Revere returned to Minnesota for the first time since being traded by the Twins in the off-season for Vance Worley.  He had a great series, hitting .571 (8 for 14) with a triple and a stolen base against his former club.  His average is up to .266 for the season, but if you take out his awful month of April, his average improves to .316.  Hopefully he's getting more used to his new surroundings and that number continues to go up.

Revere has received Phillies cards in a number of Topps sets so far this year - Bowman, Gypsy Queen, Heritage and the Phillies retail set.  He appears on a relic card (with a swatch of Twins jersey) within the recently released Topps Archives.
