2009 Bowman Chrome Prospects #BCP149 Freddy Galvis

Phillies 8, Rockies 7
Game 68 - Friday Night, June 14th in Denver
Record - 33-35, 3rd Place, 6 1/2 games behind the Braves

One Sentence Summary:  Behind a pair of two-run triples from Freddy Galvis, the Phillies overcame a five run deficit to defeat the Rockies, 8-7.

What It Means:  After the dismal showing in Milwaukee and Minnesota, it was nice to get the Rockies series off to a good start.  Two more wins, and the Phils are back at .500.

What Went Right:  The Phillies were behind early due to a particularly rough outing from Kyle Kendrick.  Kendrick lasted just 4 1/3 innings, allowing seven runs on ten hits.  But the bullpen did its job for a change, pitching 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.  Justin De Fratus, Mike Adams and Jonathan Papelbon were all able to get the job done and each worked out of situations with the potential tying run on base.

Jimmy Rollins came off the bench to deliver the eventual game-winning RBI single.  A batter earlier, Galvis had tied the game with his second two-run triple of the night.

Featured Card:  Galvis had been in the midst of a mini-slump over the past few weeks, so it was nice to see him have a big night.  As is usually the fate of non-starting utility infielders, Galvis has been completely ignored so far this year by Topps.  In fact, his only Topps-produced cards to this point in his career appear in the 2008 Bowman Draft, 2009 Bowman Chrome, 2009 Bowman Sterling and 2011 Topps Pro Debut sets.  Something is wrong with the player selection process when someone like Galvis has almost as many Chachi cards as Topps cards.
