Game 4 - 5-run 8th Inning Sparks Comeback Victory

2022 Topps Opening Day #46
Phillies 5
, Mets 4
Game 4 - Monday Night, April 11th in Philadelphia
Record - 3-1, 1st Place, 1/2 game ahead of the Mets

One Sentence Summary:  The Phillies, who looked punchless for the first seven innings of this game, plated five runs in the eighth inning, to pull out an impressive 5-4 win over the Mets.

What It Means:  For the first of hopefully many days this season, the Phillies are in first place.

What Happened:  Alec Bohm had a brutal night in the field, committing three errors in the first three innings.  He was cheered after making a routine out and was shown on video to have said to Didi Gregorius, "I f***ing hate this place."  Ironically enough, Bohm began the eighth inning rally with a walk.  Pinch-hitter Johan Camargo singled Bohm to third, and Bohm scored on a Kyle Schwarber ground out to second.  J.T. Realmuto followed that with a 3-run home run and suddenly it was a one-run ballgame.  After Bryce Harper struck out, Nick Castellanos walked and then scored from first on a Rhys Hoskins double.  Gregorius doubled home Hoskins with the go-ahead run.  Bohm owned and apologized for his comments following the game.

Ranger Suarez labored through 2 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on five hits.  Nick Nelson was the unheralded star of this game, pitching four innings of relief, a career high, and allowing only one more run.  Seranthony Dominguez earned the win with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.  With Corey Knebel unavailable due to flu-like symptoms, Brad Hand earned his first save with the Phillies, striking out a pair in the ninth.

Featured Card:  The featured card could have gone to Bohm, Realmuto, Hoskins, Nelson or Hand, but I'll go with Gregorius here since his double drove home the winning run.  Gregorius is in all three major Topps releases so far this year - flagship, Heritage and Opening Day.
