One Sentence Summary: The Braves scored five runs in a nightmare eighth inning, as the club lost their first spring game, 5-1.
What It Means: The Phillies will not finish their shortened Grapefruit League season undefeated.
What Happened: Kyle Gibson made his spring debut with two scoreless innings of work, striking out three. The lone Phillies run came in the fifth inning when Simon Muzziotti singled home Darick Hall. Reliever James Marvel took the brunt of the beating in the eighth, although a few misplays by left fielder Drew Maggi didn't help him. Marvel allowed five runs on four hits and a walk.
Featured Card: There wasn't much to be excited about on the field, so here's a card of the newest slugger added to the Phillies line-up (see below). After Kyle Schwarber's signing was officially announced, he met up with current hitting coach Kevin Long and former Phillies manager Charlie Manuel.

Before this game, the Phillies (finally) officially announced additional non-roster invitees Dillon Maples (rhp) and Austin Wynns (c) along with an additional non-roster invitee, and Phillies Room favorite, Ronald Torreyes (inf). The team also (again, finally) officially announced the signing of Schwarber (of) to a four-year contract. We'll have to wait a few more days for the official announcement for Nick Castellanos.
To make room on the 40-man roster for Schwarber, Kent Emanuel (lhp) was placed on the 60-day injured list with an elbow injury.
