At the Ballpark: Now this is cool. The Pirates will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of their 1979 World Championship all weekend with a 1979 Pirates t-shirt being given out on Friday night (to the first 20,000 fans) and a retro bobble head giveaway on Saturday. The Phillies and Pirates will wear throw-back uniforms on Saturday night and there will be a pre-game ceremony honoring members of the 1979 Pirates team.

ReplyDeleteSeveral teams (Pirates, Phillies, Cardinals, maybe others) wore them for a short time in the 1970s, but only the Pirates stuck with them for several years.
I could be wrong, but my prediction is the Pirates definitely will and the Phillies will wear their baby blue road uniforms without the logo patch that was introduced in 1983.
